Last night at the FTCSC School Board meeting, we had the opportunity to celebrate some pretty special students and staff from South Creek Elementary who are Making A Difference in some great ways!

South Creek Assistant Principal Mrs. Torrie Smith started by recognizing South Creek’s "Girls on the Run" program. This year, 10 students are participating, and while running is certainly part of it, the program is about so much more. Girls on the Run also has a robust curriculum that helps students build confidence, develop healthy habits, make friendships, and discover just how strong they can be.

“Girls on the Run is about much more than just running,” Mrs. Smith shared. “It allows our students to build confidence, develop healthy habits, make meaningful friendships, and discover their own strength and potential.”

The girls will spend the next several weeks practicing with South Creek staff members who volunteer as coaches, all leading up to a 5K race in November!

South Creek Principal Mr. Patrick Gilfoy also recognized South Creek teachers Meg Cade and Paula Butterfield for Making A Difference each day supporting students at South Creek.

The evening also included a special recognition for South Creek student Rowan, whose energy, happiness, and personality bring so much joy to those around her.

“Every day, Rowan brings her undeniable energy and happiness to school, and she simply makes our days better,” Mr. Gilfoy shared.

It was a great night celebrating students participating in Girls On The Run, staff members who go above and beyond, and the FTCSC Flashes South Creek Community, who work hard every day to ensure students feel seen, supported, and valued. Another great example of how the students and staff at South Creek are Making A Difference!
