A goal of 30 backpacks quickly turned into 58 opportunities to Make A Difference for students in the FTCSC Flashes Community.
As part of Fischer Homes’ company-wide “Pack To Give Back” initiative, members of the Fischer Homes Indianapolis team recently donated 58 backpacks filled with school supplies to Franklin Township Community School Corporation. The backpacks will be distributed to new FTCSC students and families who may need additional support as they begin their school year.
When the Indianapolis team joined the Pack To Give Back initiative, they initially set a goal of collecting 30 backpacks for students at a local school. The team also wanted its donation to directly benefit a community where Fischer Homes is actively building and where its homeowners live.
With Fischer Homes currently building in the nearby Emerald Preserve community, FTCSC was a natural fit. A personal connection helped bring the partnership together when the Fischer Homes team reached out to Franklin Central High School Principal Mr. Zak Tschiniak, who connected them with the FTCSC Central Office.
The response from the Fischer Homes Indianapolis team exceeded expectations. Employees nearly doubled their original goal, collecting 58 backpacks filled with supplies for FTCSC students.
“We are incredibly grateful to Fischer Homes and their Indianapolis team for this generous donation and for choosing to invest in our FTCSC Flashes Community,” FTCSC Director of Student Services, Kelly Anderson, said. “Our students and schools are at their best when we have a community that comes alongside us and shares in our commitment to Making A Difference for students and families. These 58 backpacks will provide more than just school supplies; they also help ensure that students who join our Flashes family will have what they need to feel welcomed, supported, and ready to learn.”

The donation is another example of the important role local businesses and community organizations can play in supporting students and families throughout FTCSC.
“Partnerships like this truly Make A Difference, and we are thankful to Fischer Homes for being part of our FTCSC Flashes Community,” Executive Director of Communications, Dr. Kent Pettet, added. “We are always looking for opportunities to partner with local businesses and organizations that want to support our students, families, and schools, and we hope this Meaningful Collaboration is the beginning of a continued partnership with Fischer Homes.”
“We wanted to give back to a community where we are actively building and where our homeowners are part of the community,” said Patrick Reece, Land Acquisition Manager with Fischer Homes. “With our Emerald Preserve community just a few minutes from Franklin Central and our connection with Principal Zak Tschiniak, FTCSC was a natural fit. Our original goal was 30 backpacks, so we were thrilled to see our Indianapolis team come together and nearly double that goal with 58 backpacks. We are excited to support students in the Franklin Township community, and we hope to continue this partnership in the future.”

What began with a goal of collecting 30 backpacks ultimately grew into 58 opportunities to support students as they begin their journey in the FTCSC Flashes Community.
FTCSC extends a special thank you to everyone at Fischer Homes who donated, organized, and helped make the “Pack To Give Back” initiative possible. It is through Meaningful Collaboration with community partners like Fischer Homes that we can continue to support our students and families and strengthen our FTCSC Flashes Community!
