Zachary Smith Howard, president of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation Board of Education, was appointed Director of Region 8 on the Board of Directors of the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA). Region 8 encompasses Marion, Hancock, Johnson, Shelby, and Rush counties and is made up of a total of 26 school boards.
This appointment was approved unanimously by ISBA’s Delegate Assembly on September 15 at the 2025 ISBA/Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) Annual Fall Conference. President Howard’s appointment took effect on September 16 at the conclusion of the conference and he will serve a new three-year term concluding at the Fall 2028 ISBA/IAPSS Conference.
The ISBA Board of Directors meets quarterly and provides strategic direction and oversight for the management, operations, and financial policies of the Association. The Board of Directors consists of 14 members -- four officers and 10 region directors -- all of whom are locally elected or appointed school board members.
